The gas-discharge (or gas-plasma) display uses the discharge of visible light from a gas, usually neon, which has been electrically charged. A flat-panel display, it has a grid of clear, neon filled cells which contain electrodes. Electric current can be conducted along specific grid lines and passed through the neon at the intersections. This energizes the gas molecules at the intersection, illuminating that specific point (|pixel|).
